Axe Care
The Forest Axe performs best when kept sharp. If severe damage to the blade occurs, use a file to re-profile the bit, then use sharpening stones or an axe puck to refine the edge.
The handle is finished with boiled linseed oil. After use, dry the handle, then apply some oil with a cloth. In addition, rubbing a small amount of oil on the steel will help prevent rust. Burn or soak any rags used to apply linseed oil in water to prevent fire.
The poll can be struck with wood, but never steel, whether it’s a wedge, axe or hammer.
We suggest using the lanyard to hang the axe when it’s not in use.
The leather sheath is hardwearing, just make sure to dry it out well at room temperature if it is ever left out in the rain.
Should it start to dry out, the sheath can be reconditioned with a natural leather conditioner.
